Introduced by the japanese in the boom years of the 1980’s. storage space for parts of the process of production became part of the accounting equation. Supply chains became so sophisticated that each separate item was supplied almost instantaneously to the next manufacturer in the production chain ‘just in time’ therefore taking storage out of the equation.

A plant which yields a bast fibre, which is used for hessian, rope and string making
